Search Dialog

The following dialog displays when the Query option is selected from the AutoPLANT Project Browser toolbar. It provides the option to query the active AutoPLANT database and return results based on specific search conditions.
The Search dialog is divided into two sections:
Select Pipeline Attribute (Query Conditions) — In this section define conditions for the query here and Add them to the Search Summary section.
  1. Select a Pipeline Attribute from the list. The default attributes are Areaid, LineNumber, Service, Unit Number.
  2. Select an operator for the condition (equal to , not equal to , like , not like, etc.).
  3. Enter the conditional information to use for the query.
  4. Click Add to Search to add the query to the Search Summary section.
Search Summary — This section displays the query in a user-friendly natural language and allowing the user to easily manipulate the query condition. Multiple queries can be added to this section if desired, and the following editing options are available:
  • Group – To group one or more conditions, first select contiguous conditions in the search summary, then click the Group button. Beginning and ending parenthesis are added to the group. Nested grouping is supported.
  • UnGroup – To Ungroup, select either the starting or ending group parenthesis. All of the group's conditions will be highlighted. Click the Ungroup button. The beginning and ending parenthesis of the group are removed. Removing nested grouping is supported
  • Edit – Displays the query in the top section with the original query conditions populating the fields. You can modify the fields, then click Accept to save the changes, or Cancel to abort the changes

Menu Commands

The following menu commands are available from the File menu.

New Selecting the File > New menu item will "clear" the currently displayed query on the Query Form. The Search For and Conditions sections are cleared, and any conditional information added to the search summary are removed.
Open An existing file on the file system can be opened. From the Query Form menu, click File > Open. The standard Windows file open dialog is displayed. Select the file from the file system. The Query Form will display the conditional information in the exact order is was saved.
Save Saves changes made to the current query.
Save As The query can be saved to a file. From the Query Form menu, click File > Save. The standard Windows file save dialog is displayed. Enter a file name and save the file to the file system.
Close Closes the dialog without saving the changes.
Save Query — Once you click OK to run the query, the Save As dialog displays prompting you to give the query a name.
Enter a name for the query and click OK to add it to the Local Queries node in the EC Plugin Provider.
